Critical Care physicians assume a primary role in the care of patients in the medical intensive care unit of our local hospitals. Consultative care is provided for hospitalized patients with acute and chronic respiratory failure.
A sleep disorder is a medical condition of the sleep patterns of a person that are serious enough to interfere with normal physical, mental and emotional functioning. Although there are many sleep disorders, PCCC of Volusia specializes in sleep apnea. Sleep Apnea is a disorder that affects more than 12 million people in the United States and people with untreated sleep apnea stop breathing repeatedly during their sleep, sometimes many times during the night and often for a minute or longer.
PCCC of Volusia specializes in sleep apnea and can conduct a sleep study at any of it's three locations in the Daytona Beach area.
There are three types of sleep apnea:
Common symptons of apnea inlcude but are not limited to daytime sleepiness and snoring. PCCC of Volusia conducts sleep studies which assist in the diagnosis of sleep disorders.
A sleep study is a test that records information while a patient is sleeping. The test provides information that assist diagnosing sleep disorders including apnea, narcolepsy, insomnia and other sleep disorders. A sleep study is conducted in the evening hours close to normal sleep hours. PCCC of Volusia conducts sleep studies at each location in Ormond Beach, Port Orange and New Smyrna Beach. Patients are accepted for a sleep study from the Central Florida area including Orlando, Daytona Beach and Melbourne.
